What is Item Itelligence

This document provides technical documentation and feature details for the Item Intelligence Power BI Report solution.

The solution helps organizations classify and analyze inventory based on item activity and performance. It is structured around four analytical groups:

  • Performing Group

  • New Items Group

  • No Sales Group

  • Obsolete Items Group

Each group uses tailored Power BI visuals and DAX-based KPIs.

Versions

The solution is available in two tiers:

  • Base Version – The standard application available on Microsoft AppSource.

  • Extended Version – Includes all Base features plus:

    • Mini Item Intelligence Dynamic Dashboard

    • Item Intelligence Power BI Report

Features exclusive to the Extended Version are marked with an asterisk (*).

New Items Group

  • I. Sales Quantity Ratio in Classification Period (NW1)

  • II. Avg. Daily Sales Amount in Classification Period (NW2)

  • III. Stock Level by Quantity (W3)

No Sales Group

  • I. Stock Level by Quantity (W3)

  • II. Days Since Last Sales Transaction (Before Classification Period)

Main Page & Insights

Overview Dashboard

The Item Intelligence main group is divided into:

  • Performing Items – 16 item groups

  • Recently Introduced Items – 4 item groups

  • Obsolete Items – 1 item group

  • Items with No Sales – 3 item groups

Each Item Group contains:

  • Group Description

  • Period Filter

  • “Item Insight” Action Button

Item Insight Structure

Triggered by the “Item Insight” button, the insight panel includes:

  1. Summary

  2. Item Performance Evaluation

  3. Trends & Seasonality

  4. Sales & Marketing Strategy Suggestions

  5. Short-Term Recommendations

Item List Columns:

  • Item No.

  • Item Description

  • Item Insights

  • Insight Creation Date

  • Current Stock

  • Last Sales Date

  • Sales Amount (Period & Total)

  • Sales Quantity (Period & Total)

  • COGS (Period)

Clicking on an Item No. and then Item Description in the pop-up redirects the user to the Item Card.


*Power BI Integration

A full Power BI Report is available in the Extended version:

  • Complete view of Items, Groups, and KPIs

  • Interactive filtering and insights

  • Designed for strategic overview and export


Item Intelligence App Actions

Main Actions Menu:

  • Item Intelligence Groups – View and edit group metadata

  • App Management Panel

Group Fields:

  • Group Reference (Code[4])

  • Group Title

  • Group Description

  • Visibility Toggle

App Management Info:

  • User ID

  • Tenant ID

  • Tenant Domain Name

  • Status (initialization flag)

  • Application Name and Version

  • Last Update Date

  • Debug Mode Toggle

  • Extension Permissions (auto-generated)

Administration & Setup

Menu: Start Here

  • Partner Name & Contact Email form

  • Support Contact

  • Website Access

Admin Tools → Item Intelligence Setup

a) General Settings

  • Period Length – Defined in DateFormula, calculated from current WorkDate in Business Central

  • Last Update Date – Date of last classification

  • Classification Range – Number of uploaded item records

  • Number of Records – Total count of items processed

  • Hide Empty Groups – Toggle to hide tiles with zero items

b) Scheduler

  • Scheduler Start Date – Start time of scheduled tasks

  • Frequency – Daily / Weekly / Monthly / Yearly

  • Activated – Enable or disable the scheduling engine

Additional Tools:

  • Check Your License

  • Initiate Web Services List – Upload web service bindings

  • Reset Web Services List – Reinitialize service configuration


Item Page Functionality

The Item List displays all items with interactive insights.

On the right-hand details panel:

  • Mini Item Intelligence Dashboard

    • Displays interactive KPI data for the selected item

    • Updates dynamically based on user selection

After item selection:

  • Additional Item Intelligence section appears

  • Clicking on the Item Group name redirects to the Item Group Page
